Bootcamp Highlights: Git 101 Virtual Bootcamp

This Git 101 was the first of our online bootcamp series to provide e-learning for our students during this pandemic. We are delighted to have our Summer of Tech alumnus, Nanda Hibatullah, who is now a Software Developer at Xero, to deliver this awesome session.
The first part of the session was the introduction of git and why it is important for future programmers to learn about it. Git is a distributed version-control system for tracking changes in source code during software development. It is designed for coordinating work among programmers, but it can be used to track changes in any set of files. Nanda also shared with our students the common functions while using GitHub, a collaborative platform where programmers can share their code with others.

The second part of the session was time for students to try their own tasks on their GitHub account. Students were asked to try to clone a repository, to commit change and to do push and pull requests for collaborative work. They were also given the opportunity to ask Nanda any questions they had through our designated Slack channel.
To watch Nanda's bootcamp, register for Summer of Tech or login and go to the past events section by selecting past events in the left hand bar.
