2024 Summer of Tech Volunteer Events: delivering impact and support in a tough job market
In the past 3 months over 400 students and graduates have attended Summer of Tech events, delivered by industry volunteers, alumni and the Summer of Tech team. We’ve been at 7 career fairs around Aotearoa, and spoken to hundreds of keen and engaged students and graduates ready to kick start their careers in the tech industry.

Supporting ADHD or Neurodiversity in your team
Employees with ADHD or neurodiversity can need a little extra support and tools to make them shine. Understanding how different team members approach a task or project and what level of detail or context you need to provide can lead to more successful outcomes for your next project.
Recruitment skill testing alternatives
Testing students to find out their skills and skill level is time consuming for both students and employers. There is little value to students from typical tests unless they get the role. Exercism.io provides a platform for students to prove their ability while learning and getting feedback on their skills. Employers can ensure that a student's ability is at their preferred standard.
Tips for Employers working with hard-of-hearing students
Supporting students who are hard of hearing is equivalent to supporting a remote worker. Technology advances and support from MSD enable employers to provide support for those who are hard of hearing via online meetings and interpreters. There is only a slight shift required in employers' behaviour to support hard of hearing team members.
